JOHN SANGSTER
Paradise Volume One

|
In 1973, Australian jazz legend John Sangster was commissioned to write a
soundtrack for a tourist film to promote Surfer’s Paradise.
The resultant album was a truly remarkable suite that transcended its humble
origins.
The music ranges from gentle bossa nova, to funky wah-wah guitar wig-outs,
to 70’s bachelor pad lounge-core, with many tracks featuring field recordings
of local wildlife and nature – giving the album a uniquely Australian feel. And
with the original LP only having a limited release on an obscure label (Trinity
Records), Paradise Volume One has remained a buried treasure...until
now that is!
Features such greats as: Don Burrows, George Golla, Errol Buddle, Renee Geyer and Kerrie Biddell.
Our CD reissue features reproductions of the
12 page libretto that
accompanied the original album.
