Antipodean cycling fans are well versed in the lore of "The Queen of the Classics" the Paris–Roubaix cycling race. Every April, the toughest cyclists on the international circuit saddle up to attack the crumbling cobble-stones that still lie on the pathways north of Paris, leading into Belgium.
We have been blessed with one superb documentary on this race, the 1974 film, “A Sunday In Hell”. Now it’s time for an update. “Road to Roubaix ”, set in 2007, tells the stories of the riders, mechanics, fans and the brutal, unpredictable landscape that is the stage for the Paris-Roubaix. Combining candid interviews with both today’ stars and cycling legends, rare behind-the-scenes-footage, stunning panoramic views of the race and the region, and a collection of archival and contemporary still images, the film-makers bring you a view of the Paris-Roubaix that most people never see.
